This website is the result of five years of investigation into the entries found in guestbooks that have survived Crown Point Chalet, a roadhouse that once existed high above the Columbia River near Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Margaret E. Henderson, or "Bidy", as many knew her, established Crown Point Chalet in 1915 and during the course of operation she maintained guestbooks that contain entries dating from 1915-1927, a dynamic period when the automobile, paved highways, aeroplanes and silent movies were exciting new inventions. |

The guestbook investigation is ongoing, but it has matured to a point where book detailing the results of the study has finally been published. For those of you who enjoy chasing historic information, and find satisfaction in the exhumation of an assortment of diverse characters, some quite famous and others simply interesting, you will by far enjoy what you find here. |
